What are LNA’s admission requirements?
Regardless of grade level, all students must be able to function in English. Admission to Lincoln National Academy courses is open. Any student may enroll in any course during the term in which the course is offered, regardless of age or grade level.
Does LNA have an age limit?
No, there are no age or grade restrictions associated with students who enroll in LNA.
Can I enroll my child in LNA if we live outside of the U.S.?
Yes. Students will have access to their courses 24/7, and they will be responsible to log on to the course each day when the teacher logs on.
Can I view course materials in advance?
A webinar may be scheduled by calling 855-422-5277, or you may refer to the Class.com website for a course demo.
What is the deadline for enrollment?
The enrollment deadline is two to four weeks prior to the established start date. For additional information, see the LNA handbook.
Do I need books?
Lincoln National Academy courses are self contained and no additional materials are required for courses, with the exception of those courses that may contain additional reading. Teachers may make additional resources available to their students, as needed.
How do I enroll?

Does LNA have real teachers?
Yes, all teachers are certified to teach in their resident state and teach in their endorsed subject area. See Instruction to learn more about our instruction philosophy and teachers qualifications.
How much does it cost to enroll in LNA?
The cost associated with enrollment is a per-semester course fee that is due at the time registration is processed. Cost of the course is all inclusive and includes: instruction, access to course content, and service and maintenance of the site.
When is the first payment due?
LNA does not offer a payment plan. The full amount is due at the time the online enrollment is processed.

How successful have students been taking LNA courses?
Since 2007, students have accomplished a 92 percent completion rate in their courses.
How are LNA courses structured?
LNA Courses are synchronous, meaning teacher and student log on to the course at the same time. Each course is term based. Courses are structured to be completed within a specific term or time frame.
How many LNA courses can a student enroll in per semester?
Students are expected to work with their local school counselor to define online course schedule. At LNA, we recommend that a student enroll in no more than five courses (what we view as the equivalent of one semester of courses).
How much time can a student expect to spend in each course?
Students can expect to spend 90 hours on a one semester (one-half unit, five credits) course. Depending on the student, some are able to complete a course in less time, while others may take longer.
What is the credit value for each course?
All LNA courses are one-half Carnegie Unit and are equivalent to one semester (one-half unit, five credits). Credit will be issued upon course completion.
What is the maximum student-to-teacher ratio you allow?
Minimum class size is 12, and we rarely allow more than 30 students in a course section. Our average student/teacher ratio is 75:1.
How many students are enrolled in LNA?
About 500 at any given time. LNA began offering courses with instruction in 2007 and has enrolled more than 2,500 students.
Can students enroll in courses above or below their grade level?
Yes, but we recommend the student work with the local school to define appropriate courses for enrollment. If a student is enrolled full-time with LNA, he/she will work with LNA's school director/administrator to define appropriate course selection.
Can I earn my high school diploma from LNA?
Yes. LNA will begin accepting students into the full-time diploma program in the fall of 2012.
Is LNA accredited?
Yes, Lincoln National Academy is accredited by Advanc-ED as a NCA-CASI school.

Teachers
Are there certification requirements for LNA teachers?
All LNA teachers are endorsed in the subject area in which they teach.
How are the LNA teachers trained and qualified?
All LNA teachers are licensed by the state in which they live and endorsed in the subject area they teach. They have at least three years online teaching experience and five years general teaching experience.
LNA teachers participate in professional development training sessions that provide them with the skills they need to be effective online teachers. These skills include understanding online teaching pedagogy and methods.
How are LNA teachers evaluated?
The evaluation process for LNA teachers is ongoing, and completed by the Lincoln National Academy’s administrator. The evaluation includes a review of all messages that are captured within the delivery system, as well as input from students, proctors, and local administrators. Teachers receive feedback regularly regarding their performance.
Do teachers post available hours?
LNA teachers post their schedule through the course announcement.
How would you describe the teacher/student interaction?
LNA teachers communicate with students daily through the announcement and messaging system. Teachers respond to messages within 24 hours (Monday-Friday) and post grades within 48 hours.

Can every student proceed at his or her own pace and schedule?
LNA courses run on a synchronous weekly schedule. Although students have the ability to access their course at any time, they are expected to log in to the course daily, when the teacher logs on. A pacing guide defines deadlines for assignments and activities.
What kind of students are LNA online courses appropriate for?
Courses are structured to be taught in an online environment, so students best suited to learn independent of their teacher will have the most success.
What are the keys to a successful online learning experience?
As with a traditional classroom setting, regular participation, timely completion of assignments, and thorough attention to tasks make for a successful online learning experience.
How do students interact with each other?
On occasion, students may interact through synchronous discussion forums.
How are students graded?
LNA uses several types of assessments including practice quizzes, writing assignments, and short answer, and objective multiple-choice exams. This mix provides the learner with checkpoints to monitor his or her progress. The grading scale and specific information relating to grading is found in each course’s FAQ.
Policies
What is LNA’s Student Add/Drop Policy?
In the event a student withdraws from school or drops a course, the student should inform the Lincoln National Academy teacher in writing. A confirmation of drop will be issued from LNA when the process is completed. An email message is an acceptable form of written communication.
What is LNA’s Refund Policy?
A full refund will result if a drop occurs within 14 days and will be made to the original purchaser. No refund will be processed if the drop occurs after 14 business days from the enrollment date.
